A decade ago, TCF visited the small village of Khoski, Sindh. On one of the visits to the local markets, TCF employees saw a young child, merely five-years-old. The young boy was trudging down the beaten path in the busy market place with a begging bowl in his hand. Ali Mehmood was the only child of a widowed mother.
“He came to stop before us and looked up with such innocence, we knew we couldn’t leave him there.” One employee recounted. Ali was asked if he wanted to attend school, to which he gave a very enthusiastic reply. After convincing Ali’s mother, and ensuring her that Ali was in good hands, young Ali was immediately enrolled in a TCF school.
Now after 10 years, Ali is a confident young man preparing for his board exams. He is a bright student with so much hope for a better future. A little boy who was buried under the clutches of poverty and beggary was saved from a horrible future.
“I want to end beggary from our society. I don’t want any child to be subject to the unfortunate situation without a way out.” Said Ali. His goals and ambitions continue to grow along with him. We urge you to dispel your support and help for many student’s like Ali, who are still stuck in the horrible situation of beggary. Take responsibility for one child’s education. With Sadqah and Zakat, you can help keep a child out of the streets.
